On January 5, 2013, the Bahamas Chess Federation teamed up with FOCUS, introducing its students to the game of chess.  FOCUS is a programme of the Lyford Cay Foundation which offers academic enrichment for 30-days in the summer and 15-Saturdays during the school year at The College of The Bahamas Oakes Field Campus.   It is tuition-free, serving fifth through twelfth grade students.   FOCUS launched in July 2011 with 30 students who completed grade four in a New Providence Northwest District public school.  Admission is by application only.
