Bahamas National Chess Open 2016

Candidate master (CM) Kendrick Knowles cruised to victory in the 7th edition of the Bahamas National Chess Open.

After five rounds, Knowles finished on 4.5 points with four wins and a single draw.

CM Nathan Smith closed in second place on 3.5 points after impressive wins against third-place finisher Polina Karelina and Philip Hanna Jr.

Knowles and Smith have now qualified for this year's Bahamas National Championship, scheduled for November.

The final standings were:

1. CM Kendrick Knowles - 4.5 points
2. CM Nathan Smith - 3.5
3. Polina Karelina - 3.5
4. Philip Hanna Jr. - 2.0
5. Clive Stuart - 1.0
