Conduct: Participants are required to maintain a professional demeanor throughout this high-level competition and adhere to the Bahamas Chess Code of Ethics. Any instances of collusion, prearrangement of results, or other violations of the FIDE Laws of Chess or established decorum will prompt the Organizer to take necessary actions. This may involve reporting the incident to FIDE and Bahamas Chess, potentially affecting the player's eligibility for future invitations. Format: The 2024 Orjan Lindroth Memorial Chess Tournament shall be an event with two (2) Swiss format tournaments of 9 rounds. Prompt Arrival: Players are expected to arrive promptly for their games. Any player who have not made a move thirty (30) minutes after the official start of a round shall lose his/her game. No Devices: No cell phones, watches of any kind, pens, or any other devices shall be allowed in the tournament area. Any violation of this policy will result in a forfeit of that round and may result in expulsion from the event. Draw by mutual agreement: The players cannot draw a game by agreement before the completion of black’s 30th move. A claim for a draw before the completion of black’s 30th move is permitted only in cases of draw by threefold repetition or a stalemate. Schedule of Events: Each round shall begin at the start times listed in the Schedule of Events. Pairings & Scoring: Players will be randomly seeded and paired according to the standard Swiss System. Games shall be worth one (1) point for a win, half (1/2) a point for a draw, and zero (0) points for a loss. Time Control: For Open Tournament: The time control shall be game in ninety (90) minutes plus thirty (30)-seconds increment from move one (G/90+30). For U1800 Tournament: The time control shall be game in sixty (60) minutes plus thirty (30)-seconds increment from move one (G/60+30). |
Prizes: The total prize fund shall be $21,500 (Twenty-One Thousand, Five Hundred U.S. Dollars), distributed according to the tables and the terms described herein.
All Prizes will be paid in cash. The 1st Place Prize shall only be paid to the overall event winner, determined by the tournament tie-breaks. All other prizes shall be split equally among all tied players. Tie-breaks: If two or more players are tied after the event, the following tiebreaks shall be used to determine the overall winner:
