JANUARY
The 2024 Bahamas National Chess Championship returns as an elite over-the-board national championship event, featuring 7 of the strongest chess players in The Bahamas. For six (6) rounds these competitors will battle for $2,000 in prize money and the coveted title of 2024 Bahamas National Chess Champion.

FEBRUARY
The road to the 45th Chess Olympiad starts with this first qualifying tournament. Any Bahamian wanting to make the Bahamian Open or Female Olympiad Team must qualify by placing first or second. This is a 5-rounds swiss tournament with games in 60 minutes plus 30 seconds per move.

The Polhemus Darling Memorial Rapid Tournament is held annually in honor of the BCF’s longest sponsor Polhemus Darling. It is an ideal tournament for beginners and seasoned players wanting short games to test their development. It is a 5- rounds Swiss format tournament with 20 minutes per game and lots of awards to win.

MARCH
The annual Scholastic Individual Championship is the ultimate Chess tournament for school aged players, under the age of 18. Bahamian students from private and public schools will battle to become the Scholastic Individual overall Chess Champion, or under 12, under 15, or under 18 open or female Champion.

The Scholastic Team Championship is the annual flagship Chess tournament for students of General Education Institutions. Each school may enter a mixed team of 4 students in the open category and one all girls team, to battle over the board against teams from other schools.

APRIL
The road to the 45th Chess Olympiad continues with this 2nd qualifying tournament. Any Bahamian wanting to make the Open or Female Olympiad Team must place first or second in this 5-rounds swiss tournament. The final 2 of the 4 spots available for each Olympiad team will be decided.

MAY
The Island Queens Chess Tournament is an inaugural woman only event designed to empower more Bahamian females to play chess. It follows an eight weeks 'learn to play chess' training program. Participants of the program are encouraged to test their new chess skills in this rapid tournament to win appealing prizes.

JUNE
The Warren Seymour Classic is an open tournament at which junior and senior players square off against each other. It is one of 4 tournaments that serve as a Qualifier for the prestigious annual Bahamas National Chess Championship. It honors the selfless and heroic work of Bahamian Warren Seymour and his contributions to the sport of chess in the Bahamas.
