Eljay's Knights Chess Club

Picture
Amazing things are happening in the community of Kemp Road, where BCF members Fanny and Jake Oldfield have started a chess club to teach eager young children the wonderful game of chess.

Since late July, twenty kids (and growing!) have gathered every Monday and Thursday evening at Eljay's Hilltop Cottage Ministries on Sutton Street to learn and practice the esteemed game of chess.  After a month, these excited youngsters now beam with joy as they beat back their opponent's king and deliver the deciding checkmate.

Chess can do so much for our communities, and the BCF applauds Fanny and Jake for their commitment to making a difference in The Bahamas.

Let's see if we can get more of these positive initiatives started.  All it takes is a little of your time; the benefits to others can be forever.
