Top Chess Players give back to Junior Chess
Thanks to the sponsorship of the MedNet Group on Saturday the 24th,
the Bahamas Chess Federation successfully held the first junior training session for 2018.
Twenty juniors from ten different schools participated in the event.
Thanks to the manageable numbers the kids were able to get in-depth knowledge from the great trainers
who volunteered their precious time to give back to the junior players.
The BCF would like to thank the exemplary instructors for their work to improve the skills and knowledge of our junior players. They included Ted Cross the highest rated BCF member, the two top female Junior players in the Bahamas WCM Polina Karelina, and WCM Daijah Johnson, the National Master Ken Gibson, another top senior player Joseph Ferguson and CM Elton Joseph.
It is hoped that the Juniors will be able to use what they learned to improve their skills, in preparation for the prestigious Bahamas Junior Chess Championship, that will be held in early April. The winner of this tournament will be crowned the Bahamas Junior Champion, while the winners of each age category will be listed as the strongest male and female for that age category.
The BCF would like to thank our sponsor and the dedicated parents without whom this would not have been possible. We plan to continue fostering the growth of all our members.
