CM NATHAN SMITH WINS FIRST ONLINE BAHAMAS JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to CM Nathan Smith on winning The Online Bahamas Junior
Chess Championship. Nathan went undefeated in the four round tournament. The event, which was hosted by The Bahamas Chess Federation (BCF), included the top players who qualified from The Junior Grand Prix Tournament. The grand prize was a beautiful marble chess set, passed down from one Junior Champion to another.
ONLINE JUNIOR GRAND PRIX
The Bahamas Chess Federation held its first Junior Grand Prix event from May 26th to June 6th. The Grand Prix was very successful, gaining participants from 2 different islands. It was the first time that the BCF held a major event online. The BCF wishes to thank all of our junior members and their parents for their participation and support.
This event was part of the BCF’s continuing strategy to develop a larger online presence. Once established in conjunction with our development of online chess training, we will be able to positively impact the growth and development of chess on all of our family islands, as well as interact with fellow players.
Congratulations to all of our winners. We would like to especially highlight our family island participants. Eleuthera’s Kezia Johnson (North Eleuthera High School) and Darrianna Bethel (Samuel Guy Pinder All Age School) came first and second, respectively, for the Family Islands.
