Great Turnout at the Breton Smith Scholastic

The Bahamas Chess Federation along with the Brenton Story held a very success tournament over the Valentines weekend. Kids from over 15 schools around New Providence came out to support the tournament named in memory of Brenton Hector Smith who loved the sport of Chess.
It was very competitive event in which kids from ages 7 to 19 competed in 7 age categories for trophies and chance to represent the Bahamas at the CARIFTA Games in Curacao in April. We saw great improvement in our players as the tournament progressed.
We are proud of the skills of all our youth, but only a few can win the Trophies.
In First place overall was Candidate Master (CM) Nathan Smith,
In Second place was Curtis Pride with 4 points and Third was Aidan Mart also with 4 points.
Trinity Pinder, Marfeeyou Joseph, Dream Pinder and Davonye Edmond
also ended with had a great performance with 4 points but lost out on tiebreaks.
Overall
1st CM Nathan Smith
2nd Curtis Pride
3rd Adian Mart
