Elton Joseph Qualifies for Candidate Master Title!

Elton has qualified for the hugely sought-after Candidate Master (CM) title!  Olympiad regulations stipulates that the title be awarded to all players who meet the minimum of a 50% score in at least 7 matches.  With 3.5 points from 7 games, Elton has just made the threshold.  He can now play on and make an attempt at the FIDE Master (FM) title, which requires a 65% score in at least 9 games.  For proof of what I say, go to http://chess-results.com/tnr140380.aspx?lan=1&art=59&fed=BAH&flag=30&wi=821.

Carver, meanwhile, has 3 points after 7 games and will qualify for his own CM title with a win in his next game.  We're coming home with all the spoils!

Well done CM Elton. This makes you the first Bahamian to earn a title at the Chess Olympiad and you have done it playing Board 2! It is a proud day for chess in The Bahamas. Congrats also to the team's Coach GM Predrag Trajkovic and the Head of Delegation, Andre White. I know that Andre and his the other Executives of the BCF worked hard to organise this team, the training and travel to this 41st Chess Olympiad. Elton, you have become a trailblazer and hopefully an inspiration to Bahamas chess players today and tomorrow.

Agreed Kean. AND to add to it, he won again today! Way to go Elton and Team Bahamas for the 3-1 win. It's exciting watching the games (no pressure). Also seems like Kasparov easily lost the election so more of the same to come.
